The trip to Macao( from Sylvia)

Dear Senior Sister,

How are you doing recently?

My job here is as usual and nothing special. Then last weekend I decided to give myself a break and seek excitement. I went to Macao for a short trip. During those two days, .I set foot on the Ruins of St. Paul’s, Golden Lotus Square, Macao Fisherman’s Wharf, the Mazu Temple and the last stop, the Venetian.

Macao is really small compared with the other places that I’ve ever been, but I like this city. Some of the buildings and streets are of a certain age, giving the impression of tradition. And the place I like most is the newly built Venetian, which is the combination of resort and hotel. It has the world’s largest casino with approximately 3000 slots and 750 table games on the first floor and more than 350 international brand stores on the second floor with a clear and beautiful man-made Grand Canal. I couldn't help thinking what the real Grand Canal is like when looking at the man-made one. It must be much more marvellous.

The casino is crowded with people from all over the world. Some dream of becoming rich by gambling while some just play for fun, like me. I spent most of the time on the second floor taking photos and window-shopping, which is quite an eye-opener. All the things in the Venetian seem attractive and amazing to me. I couldn’t help travelling from one spot to another even though I was quite exhausted at that time. Of course there’re still other floors in the Venetian, however, time is limited and I had no alternative but to leave.

Besides the gorgeous Venetian, the traditional Macao food is my favourite. I used to eat the so-called Egg Tart in Guangzhou and had always wanted to try the one from Macao. This time I finally got the chance. I bought two famous brands of egg tart and tasted, however, they’re good but not so delicious as I expected. After returning home and surfing the Internet, I happened to discover that I had not tasted the best egg tart in Macao, which is called Lord Stow’s egg tart. It is disappointing that I had not come across that bakery. I bought many other special local foods but they could not make up for my disappointment. Anyway, I’ve decided to go there again next time when available and experience whatever I’ve missed this time.

Best regards,

Sylvia(杨嘉瑞)
